The L3Harris IDEAtion Center is a high-fidelity, physics-based modeling capability focused on the total mission rather than a single component. Its innovative Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) simulation environment brings together space, air, surface and subsurface entities and applies them collaboratively to exercises. This technology enables users to evaluate mission strategy and tactics in an almost limitless variety of complex scenarios.

L3Harris Military Training was recently awarded the U.S. Air Force Simulator Common Architecture Requirements and Standards (SCARS) program. This critical program will directly enable the USAF to meet the objective end-state of the Operational Training Infrastructure 2035 Flight Plan. This effort spans the definition, design, delivery, deployment and sustainment of a common simulator architecture across an Air Force training portfolio of over 50 different weapon system platforms and 2,400 training devices at over 300 sites.
SCARS
The U.S. Army’s Flight School XXI (FSXXI) is recognized as the largest helicopter simulation training program in the world. Each year FSXXI trains 1,200 new student pilots with no previous flight experience to become combat mission aviators. In addition, FSXXI trains 1,600 rated Army aviators to operate new aircraft platforms annually. The U.S. Army spends only 8 percent of its annual training budget to train 39 percent of its annual training requirements via FSXXI.

These initiatives have allowed us to accelerate our small satellite enterprise into the responsive, mission prime role for several new systems – not just developing payloads, but end-to-end systems all the way to launch. Growing classified budgets have also fueled a number of pathfinder missions.
As a newly merged company, we submitted several synergy proposals to customers and were down-selected for early stage studies in our space business: three classified; and an OPIR study contract. Those would not have happened without the combined strength of L3 and Harris. The L3Harris small satellite position was also greatly enhanced by the merger with L3 SSG that has a strong small satellite market position.
We’re now an end-to-end provider and prime system integrator for responsive satellites for national and DoD customers. We’ve provided systems as small as 6U, and as large as ESPA-class – and are currently in the early stages of development on systems well beyond those sizes.
We’ve delivered hundreds of critical sensors and payloads to meet our nation’s biggest challenges.
We successfully launched and operated our own smallsat as a demonstration project – built on IRAD.
