The FVR is designed for long endurance, 12 to 18 hours, with an 8 to 22 pound payload capacity. L3Harris is advancing the state-of-the-art in beam director technology by combining time-tested optical designs with new materials and optical processes increasing the effectiveness, range and power-on-target of the laser weapon. Adding to optical improvements, L3Harris is setting new standards for the speed and precision of the beam director, enabling the system to engage UAS swarms and volleys of mortars. The ability to quickly, precisely project this lethal energy onto maneuvering and fast-moving targets, difficult to engage with conventional munitions, is a critical advantage of laser weapon systems. Other key factors: low cost per shot and high number of target engagements completed before refueling.

Capable of detecting small targets all the way to the horizon, our system can fix a target's position and initiate track or hand-off to a narrow field-of-view sensor for ID. L3Harris’ passive situational awareness system provides search capability against multiple threat types, from anti-ship cruise missile to unmanned aerial systems and small surface vessels.
