CAPABILITY COMPONENTS
L3Harris advances F-35 sustainment support through domestic and international partnerships, including depot standup activities, supply chain operations, repair and lifecycle support.
SUSTAINMENT SUPPORT
As part of the F-35 Technology Refresh-3 (TR-3) program, L3Harris has provided advanced capability that has significantly boosted the aircraft’s data storage, processing and throughput capabilities. These updates include the panoramic cockpit display electronic unit (PCD-EU), aircraft memory system (AMS) and integrated core processor (ICP).
NEXT-GENERATION TECHNOLOGY
PANORAMIC COCKPIT DISPLAY ELECTRONIC UNIT (PCD EU)
Building on the successful deliveries of open systems processing products for the F-22 and F/A-18, L3Harris was selected to upgrade the F-35 PCD EU. The PCD EU provides processing for the panoramic head-down display in the cockpit at speeds 5x faster than the legacy system to ensure the F-35 remains ahead of evolving threats.
L3Harris was selected to upgrade the F-35 AMS – the repository for avionics operational flight programs, mission and theater data, prognostics and health data, audio, display video and aircraft parametric data.
AIRCRAFT MEMORY SYSTEM (AMS)
L3Harris was selected to develop and deliver the next-generation ICP for the F-35. The ICP acts as the brains of the aircraft – processing data for the aircraft’s communications, sensors, electronic warfare, guidance and control, as well as cockpit and helmet displays. L3Harris’ next-generation system is targeted to generate a 75% cost reduction compared to the legacy system, as well as a 37x increase in computing power.
INTEGRATED CORE PROCESSOR (ICP)
L3Harris’ antenna technology has been on virtually every U.S. military aircraft. Our multifunction advanced data link (MADL) array antenna assemblies (AAAs) and antenna interface units (AIUs), for example, enable stealth communication to protect the F-35’s location.
ANTENNA SYSTEMS
L3Harris produces the panoramic cockpit display electronic units (PCD EUs) and display units (PCD DUs) for the F-35, which provide pilots with total situational awareness.
COCKPIT DISPLAY
L3Harris has delivered over 2 million components to
the F-35 program to date.
INFRASTRUCTURE COMPONENTS
The F-35 Lightning II is one of the most advanced strike aircraft in existence and L3Harris is proud to be a supplier of sophisticated avionics, pneumatic carriage and release systems, advanced sensors, encryption solutions, antenna systems and data processing technology.
CAPABILITY COMPONENTS
L3Harris' high-resolution infrared (IR) sensors help provide F-35 pilots with an unobstructed 360-degree view of the aircraft's surroundings. Our fast-steering mirrors support electro-optical targeting.
ADVANCED SENSORS
L3Harris’ expertise in multilevel security (MLS) and our focus on high-speed cryptography ensure that the F-35’s vital mission data remains protected.
SECURITY AND ENCRYPTION
The F-35 relies on L3Harris’ distinct pneumatic release technology to safely and reliably launch highly explosive munitions and missiles. Our release systems use compressed air – unlike earlier technologies that rely on explosive charges.
