NTS-3 is an advanced experimental satellite that will rapidly deliver game-changing innovations in positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) for the warfighter.
L3Harris is responsible for designing, developing, integrating and testing NTS-3 – scheduled to launch into geosynchronous orbit (GEO) in 2022. We’re working in partnership with the Air Force Research Laboratory, Space and Missile Systems Center and United States Space Force for development. Additionally, we’re collaborating with two transition agent Air Force program executive offices (PEOs) – PEO Space and PEO Agile Combat Support.

The U.S. military depends on PNT capabilities to enable everything from combat aircraft, warships and weapons systems, to individual soldiers on the ground.
It’s crucial to the warfighter’s ability to operate safely, successfully and with precision across all domains.
In fact, radio communications, information gathering, missile and artillery guidance, aerial refueling, target tracking and electronic warfare all rely on PNT information.
MILITARY PNT APPLICATIONS
SPOOFING
SPOOFING
Spoofing involves maliciously feeding false PNT information to a receiver in such a way that the deception remains undetected – in order to lead missions, systems and soldiers astray or into harm’s way.

JAMMING
JAMMING
Jamming is the intentional interference of the signal that prevents it from being received.
U.S. military operations rely on access to assured PNT. The technology, however, is susceptible to a growing array of threats, such as jamming and spoofing.
Protecting PNT signals has become a matter of global security.
Enter NTS-3 – this experimental satellite will demonstrate the benefits of a multilayer PNT architecture and the ability to quickly broadcast a new PNT signal if the enemy is jamming or spoofing the existing one.
