C-UAS Solution
L3Harris’ Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) solution delivers combat overmatch against aerial unmanned system threats and enables battlefield superiority. This solution includes the integration of weapon systems that provide point defense via sensors and effectors, including VAMPIRE, the recently announced Vehicle-Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment (VAMPIRE), that can be in fixed or mobile configurations. The C-UAS weapon system is scalable to meet warfighter needs and effectively protect airfields, bases, facilities and high-value assets in any location against group 1-3 unmanned aerial threats. FarSight Advanced Image Processing
The Javelin CLU upgrade provides the warfighter with a lighter, higher performing system securing an overmatch capability on the battlefield. L3Harris supplies the program with long-range high-definition infrared camera cores specifically designed for the CLU. These camera cores include focal plane array technology that resulted from the VISTA program, a multiyear Tri-Service initiative that also involved the Navy and Air Force. This midwave infrared technology provides an alternative to longwave mercury cadmium telluride (MCT) detectors, having some distinct advantages over longwave MCT, notably a substantially lower cost, generally wider bandwidth and significantly better image uniformity at startup.
To date, the Javelin Joint Venture, a partnership of Raytheon Missiles & Defense and Lockheed Martin, has produced more than 50,000 Javelin missiles and more than 12,000 reusable Command Launch Units. Javelin is expected to remain in the U.S. weapon arsenal until 2050 and is subject to continual upgrades to retain overmatch against emerging threats and to support evolving operational needs.
